MVPs of the Weekend: Jordan Zimmermann, Alex Cobb and Oswaldo Arcia

Well, as I said, I wasn’t able to post much (at all) over the weekend, but I can tell you that Friday’s MVP was Jordan Zimmermann, Saturday’s was Alex Cobb, and yesterday (Sunday) would have been Oswaldo Arcia (who had 6 RBI in a Twins loss).

MVP of Yesterday (May 1, 2013): Jordan Zimmermann

Mike Napoli had a great day at the plate, going 3-4 with 2 HRs, but that came in a blowout win. Jordan Zimmermann, however, went 8 scoreless innings in a tight 2-0 Nationals’ win over the Braves. With Strasburg having early struggles, Zimmermann is currently the ace of the Nationals’ staff. This is Zimmermann’s 2nd MVP of Yesterday, and it makes him the first pitcher with more than one.

MVP of Yesterday: Jordan Zimmermann

Anibal Sanchez may have had 17 Ks, but Jordan Zimmermann‘s 1-hit, 1-walk complete game 1-0 shutout victory over the Reds wins the MVP of Yesterday. The reason is that- while Sanchez’s game was better, Zimmermann’s performance was more VALUABLE, allowing the Nationals to win despite only scoring one run.
