This week’s episode of The Franchise focused on the Trade Deadline, primarily focusing on the front office, the players being traded, and the players being traded for.
Go after the jump for thoughts and the weekly count of Ozzie Guillen’s foul mouth.
- They never did mention the rumored fight that Hanley Ramirez had with a electric fan, but you couldn’t help but feel good for him when he was traded. Obvious he really was looking forward to a change in scenery.
- Good inside baseball moments in this episode include the players watching their new teammates on iPads as a way of scouting them, most notably John Buck getting to know his new pitcher, Nathan Eovaldi.
- There was no mention of Logan Morrison’s trip to the DL.
- Heath Bell’s father, and how Heath was able to finally get him to go into chemotherapy is equal parts sad and shocking. I won’t spoil it.
- As Hanley left, he told the camera guys that he’ll see them next year. Considering how well and reborn the Dodgers have become, they would make a nice choice for next season.
And now, the “Ozzie Guillen ‘Carlin Words’ Counter”, which was ENTIRELY during the credits sequence, where Ozzie Guillen talked about Coconut Water for some reason.
