Yesterday, Tim Lincecum pitched 8 innings and gave up only one hit. That’s a good way to be named the MVP of Yesterday, the second of his season.

Curse of Steve McCatty Update
Since Michael Clair unleashed images of Nationals’ pitching coach Steve McCatty‘s 1980s Playgirl shoot upon the world, the Nationals have gone 31-38. In contrast, the Braves have gone 13-0 since opening a Waffle House at Turner Field, and now hold a 15.5 game lead over the Nationals in the NL East.
In other words, finding out your pitching coach was in Playgirl causes you to go under .500, while getting a Waffle House in your stadium ensures roughly two weeks and counting of undefeated play. It’s science.

MVP of Yesterday (August 6, 2013): Andrew Albers
Sometimes, the MVP of Yesterday is completely unexpected. So is the case for Andrew Albers, the Twins pitcher who, yesterday, in his first career start, threw 8.1 shutout innings while giving up just four hits. We was just two outs away from being the first pitcher since Andy Van Hekken to throw a CG shutout in a MLB debut.

There is a Twitter Feed that lets you know when Yasiel Puig comes up, and when Vin Scully says something cool or profound. What other Twitter feeds do we need? I have some thoughts…
- A feed that lets you know whenever the benches clear.
- A feed that lets you know when Mariano Rivera is entering a game.
- A feed that tells you when a position player is pitching.
- A feed that tells you when a expected starting pitcher is switched for somebody else
- A feed that tells you when there is a rain delay and when the rain delay ends
- A feed that tells you the results of mascot races
- A feed that updates you on when guys have no-hitters or perfect games going after a certain amount of time.
- A feed that tells you when a pitcher has had 10+ Ks.
- A feed that updates you on long hitting streaks.
- A feed that consists entirely of Ichiro Suzuki quotes.
- A feed that tells you when a non-MLB baseball game is on TV or Streaming.
- A feed that consists entirely of cool Minor or Indy League Promotions occurring on a given day.
