Late WBC news for Feb. 19, 2013

Miss the earlier WBC news? Go here. If you want WBC news that transpired from today, go below the jump.

The likely-final pitcher added to Team USA’s roster is the well-regarded but statistically-unspectacular Nationals’ lefty starter Ross Detwiler, who will likely be working out of the bullpen.

Meanwhile, in warm-up games, Netherlands pitching coach Bert Blyleven brings this news:

Jay Johnson, a lefty in the Phillies organization, is replacing the injured Nick Bucci on Team Canada.

Meanwhile, in Asia, WBC scouting has risen the level of espionage.

Jhoulys Chacin of the Rockies will be playing for Team Venezuela. Yan Gomes, however, will probably pass on playing for Team Brazil, as he tries to get a job with his new team, the Indians (he was still a Toronto Blue Jay back during qualifying).

More WBC stuff tomorrow…
