Last month’s look at unofficial and unlicensed baseball shirts was a big hit, even being picked up by SI.com’s Extra Mustard. So, since I’m never the type to quit while I’m ahead, I’ll do another. So, with the postseason starting tomorrow, here are the best unofficial and/or unlicensed (or, in extreme circumstances, just plain cool) t-shirts for those teams. Click the links to be brought to the stores that are selling them.
(Note: Some of these are not technically unofficial, but are rather licensed by individual players or the Hall of Fame. You’ll see, for example, a HOF Reggie Jackson shirt that conspicuously doesn’t have any Yankees logos on it.)

Kansas City Royals
Let’s start with the defending AL Champion Royals. First thing’s first, “Skipharvey” pays tribute to the Royals’ speed with this T-shirt:
Skip also made this cool shirt that features the KC Skyline:
“SamKanKC” does this tribute to Kansas City and also the Kansas City teams of years gone by, such as the Monarchs and Athletics:
And, finally, in a cross-sports tribute, a reminder that Bo Knows:
Across Missouri, the St. Louis Cardinals. The onetime home of a certain wizard:
Yes, the Wonderful Wizard of Oz:
By the way, ever wanted to see Fredbird look like Batman? Because you can:
It’s possible that the Cardinals will face the Royals in the World Series this year. The last time that happened, of course, was 1985. That was the heart of the Nintendo Entertainment System’s era, which you can pay tribute to with this pixelized version of a Cardinals player:
Here’s a nice design by “PaullyG29” that combines St. Louis’ love of the Cardinals with the city’s most famous landmark:
Say, remember the Rally Squirrel? This guy does:
Finally, for those Cardinals fans who feel (probably rightly) that everybody is rooting against them in the National League playoffs, here’s a shirt for you:
There were plenty of Mets last month, but there are a few more things. For example, Loudegg has a Captain America/David Wright mashup that wasn’t there last time:
Here’s a neat Mets shirt that pays tribute to the year of their birth and the subways of their city:
If you want to honor the late, great Gary Carter, then 500 Level has something for you, as well as a similar shirt for Tom Seaver:
Finally, some of you may remember that there was decorative neon art on the outside of Shea Stadium. Now, you can honor those neon signs with this t-shirt:
Pittsburgh Pirates:
Thanks to the creativity of fans and the internet, you can wear a shirt that updates the Pirates logo to feature their best player:
You can also agree with somebody while substituting a swear word with your team’s nickname:
You can celebrate the Pirates’ third straight (!) return to fall baseball with this awesome t-shirt:
And, of course, you can use it to remind everyone to….
Toronto Blue Jays:
First off, “ShinyPliers” brings us this Native American (or, as the Canadians say, “First Nation”) redesign of the Blue Jays logo:
Then, “Sportsmash” brings us this tribute to all three of Toronto’s major sports teams (apologies to the Argos, I guess):
“OhioApparel” allows you to hail Josh Donaldson, the Bringer of Rain:
Here’s what the Blue Jays logo would look like if it was realistic:
And, finally, pay tribute to Canada and baseball with this hilariously computer generated shirt:
It’s so… procedural… but it gets the point across that you are a fan of Canadian baseball.
Or something like that.
New York Yankees
Most Yankee fans like to cut to the chase with in-your-face shirts about their dominance. Like this one by “JayJaxon”:
Others might have more of a sense of humor, like those who would be wearing this shirt from “joebugdud”:
Respect the wisdom of George Herman Ruth, AKA Babe Ruth:
This is neither a T-shirt nor unofficial, but it must be included somewhere: You can buy a hand-puppet of Alex Rodriguez:
A nickname t-shirt….
…and, finally, a t-shirt to honor Mr. October:
Los Angeles Dodgers:
Vin Scully’s retirement may be near, but “Eadingtonanne” will immortalize his introduction forever:
Meanwhile, for those in denial, “Spectator_Designs” has this shirt:
“Morphingalpha” pays tribute to the retired numbers of the Dodgers with this shirt:
“ADB” asks a question connected to one of LA’s most famous owners:
Here’s a T-Shirt for any Tommy Lasorda fans:
Interestingly, there are some Dodgers shirts still on sale from the time when the team was having financial troubles under the McCourts. How times have changed.
Chicago Cubs:
The Cubbies have a ton of shirts, which isn’t that surprising. Although, man, everybody is going to look dumb if they get knocked out in the Wild Card game. Anyway, for this section, JUST CLICK A SCREENSHOT to go to the store page for them (except when noted- Amazon doesn’t let me link straight through pictures):
Ah, the Cubs-Cardinals rivalry. Anyway, this above is available here.
Yeah, a lot of Cubs shirts.
Texas Rangers:
The Rangers don’t have as many T-Shirts around. But there are a few. For example, here’s a pixelized tribute to their mascot, the Rangers Captain:
And here’s one paying tribute to Nolan Ryan:
And, finally, here’s a generic one to honor Texas baseball in general:
Houston Astros:
Finally, the Houston Astros.
First off, you can pay tribute to Dallas Keuchel‘s luxurious beard:
Or you can make fun of yourselves:
You can buy this “sportsmash” of the Astros and Texans:
There is also this rather inexplicable t-shirt that is Belle from Beauty and The Beast wearing Astros garb, because… I have no idea. But it exists:
Finally, here’s a Houston-themed tribute T-shirt to Nolan Ryan:

So, there you go. You now know how you can get all unofficially t-shirted for October.
You are welcome!
