Coming in the next week on the Baseball Continuum

The Continuum kicks back into high gear on Monday, with more WBC stuff, more “Bizarre Baseball Culture” and various other stuff. Apologies for how the last few days have not been to the usual standards, but sometimes, you need to rest up and conserve energy, to prepare for big things.

Those big things are coming. Oh, yes, they are coming.

Just a reminder, by the way, that Joe Connor’s WBC guide is still for sale to anybody with either a credit card or a Paypal account.

Coming this week on The Baseball Continuum:

Coming in the next seven days on the Continuum:

  • More WBC Roster Analysis
  • The long-awaited and at least once-delayed return of Bizarre Baseball Culture, which will focus on an old public domain comic book (again). One of these days I’ll cover a TV episode or something. I swear.
  • More editions of “Famous for Something Else”.
  • The late-January edition of “Ye Olde Base Ball Continuum”.
  • And more!

And don’t forget to check out Joe Connor’s WBC Guide!

My Blogathon post is up…

My post over at the Old Time Family Baseball blogathon is now up and can be found over there. So check it out.

Some quick blog dealings

Just a few quick blog dealings for today:

-First off, a big thanks to everyone who has visited the Continuum this month so far. Already, January is the most successful month in the site’s history, and this has been the most successful week in the site’s history, and Thursday was the most successful day in the site’s history. So thank you for helping make these recent days so successful, but remember that this success is only because of you, the readers. So don’t forget to check back regularly and tell your friends about the site.

-Don’t forget that the Old Time Family Baseball blogathon that I mentioned yesterday is going on now, and my contribution will be up sometime tomorrow.

-The Glossary has been updated with a few more terms.

-Just another reminder that Joe Connor’s WBC guide remains for sale here at the Continuum, and can be found on this page.

-If you like what you see and would like to donate to the Continuum, you can now do so using the “Tip Jar” on the right side of the front page of the blog. All proceeds will go towards the Baseball Continuum and related expenses such as hosting, domain names and the like*.

*Well, that isn’t entirely truthful. If somebody drops thousands of dollars into it, I might use at least some of it to pay off some loans. But then again, if somebody drops thousands of dollars into the tip jar, I’ll personally do something for you on this blog.

Be sure to check out the Old Time Family Baseball blogathon

An unrelated note today on one of our friends on the baseball blogosphere: Old Time Family Baseball. It’s a blog much like this one, with no real theme but baseball and great content that is at least vaguely related to it. Take this post, for example. That brought me a good chuckle.

Anyway, this weekend, OTFB will be doing something special. Tomorrow, Saturday the 19th, OTFB writer Michael Clair will be writing a post every half hour for 24 hours (!!), and then, the day after that (Sunday the 20th), others from across the baseball-related internet will take over, having contributed pieces to OTFB for that day. Among those who have contributed a piece? Yours truly.

The reason for this blogathon is to raise money for Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières, as it’s known outside of North America), the humanitarian organization that provides medical care in developing nations and in war zones. Last year, they raised over $2,000 in donations, and this year they are aiming for even more, so if you are interested in the blogathon, make sure to head over to OTFB.

Blog dealings: WordAds

You might notice that there are now some more advertisements on the Continuum. The reason for this is because this site is now under WordPress’ WordAds program, which allows people who use WordPress to make a little money from their sites. I intend, barring the Continuum becoming Deadspin-level popular, to put a good portion of any profit from the site back into it, such as paying for hosting and domains. For now, at least, the advertisements will be found at the end of articles (this had happened occasionally before joining the WordAds program, but that was just by WordPress, and I received no monetary benefit from those), but in the future they might be elsewhere. I will try, however, to keep them as unobtrusive as possible.

So, if you like the Continuum and one of the ads interests you, feel free to click on it, or watch it if it is a video.

Similarly, if you come across an advertisement that offends you, please let me know, and I will look into it.

Thanks!

Now offcially www.baseballcontinuum.com!

For months, baseballcontinuum.com simply rerouted to baseballcontinuum.wordpress.com, but no more! Starting last night, baseballcontinuum.com stands for and is mapped to the whole site, this will allow for easier sharing of links and potentially other future developments and features.

Previous favorites and bookmarks should still work, but let me know if they don’t.

With that said, carry on, readers.

Coming Up in the final days of 2012

In the final days of 2012 at the Baseball Continuum:

  • New projections for Team USA and Team Dominican Republic.
  • A look at the “Living Baseball Card” project.
  • Images from 2012.
  • And maybe the awaited return of “Bizarre Baseball Culture”.

Stay tuned!

Cool Baseball Link: MyKBO.net (@MyKBO)

I’ve featured Yakyu Baka on the side of the Continuum for awhile, so now is perhaps a good time to link to perhaps it’s Korean equivalent: MyKBO.net.

MyKBO.net, as the name suggests, is about the Korean Baseball Organization and Korean baseball in general. It has links to news and blogs, has the occasional interview with a westerner playing in Korea, and also keeps standings and statistics. In addition, it’s founder, Dan Kurtz, is active on Twitter at @MyKBO and is a pretty good source of news and links on Korean baseball.

So, MyKBO.net has been added to the links part of the Continuum.

No posts this weekend

Out of respect for the victims of the people in Newtown, Connecticut, I will not be posting this weekend. I will resume posting on Monday.

Please keep the people touched by this horrible tragedy in your thoughts.
