A reminder: Tip Jar

A friendly reminder: you can help keep the Baseball Continuum up and running and with plenty of fresh content by donating to the Tip Jar, which can be found on the side of the front page.

All donations would be greatly appreciated, and all proceeds (barring me somehow getting thousands of dollars) would go towards the Baseball Continuum in some way (server costs, domain name, promotion, products for review, and so on).

Thank you!

Coming up on the Baseball Continuum (March edition)…

As the WBC continues and Opening Day draws near (Thank the Baseball Gods!), here’s a look at what you can expect from the Continuum by the end of the month:

  • Perhaps the most out-of-left-field (pun intended) “Bizarre Baseball Culture” since Rockets Rigby. And considering that series has had Martians, exploding baseballs, and Atomic Super-Wood, that is saying something.
  • A list of 162 things I think will happen in the 2013 season, both honest and facetious.
  • A few ideas on things that would make good baseball movies (I’ve done similar things in the past, but this will be more in depth).
  • More of the usual features of the Continuum, such as “Famous for Something Else”, “Cool Baseball Links”, “Picture of the Day” and “Video of the Undetermined Amount of Time”.
  • And, of course, the latest WBC coverage and overall coverage of baseball in general.

The Countdown to the WBC is on

Okay, with only a little more than a week left until the World Baseball Classic begins, here’s what to look for on the Baseball Continuum in the coming days:

  • More of the news: if anybody has to drop out at the last minute, it’ll be here. If there are warm-up games, the results will be posted here. If a team tries to spy on another team again, it’ll be here.
  • If you want to follow the WBC on Twitter, either follow me and/or follow the WBC Twitter-list I’m creating, which features players, journalists, organizations and other accounts that are related to the WBC in some way. More will be added in the coming days and weeks.
  • Pool-by-pool previews will be coming up, similar to what I did before the qualifying rounds.
  • Pictures of the Day will have an international flavor.
  • And more!

So, stay tuned to the Baseball Continuum, and don’t forget to check out Joe Connor’s WBC Guide as well!

Blog Dealings for Feb. 18, 2013

Okay, a few new things here on the blog:

  • The Continuum Baseball Rankings now have their own page at the top of the main page.
  • Another WBC update will be coming later today. If you missed the earlier one, go here.
  • Also, the aforementioned Continuum Baseball Rankings will be updated either today or tomorrow with some of the results of the warm-up games being played around the world in the lead-up to the World Baseball Classic.
  • Finally, don’t forget that Joe Connor’s WBC Guide remains on sale and that the Continuum is also taking donations in the Tip Jar.

Thank you for coming to the Baseball Continuum, tell your friends and come again!

New Countdowns: Spring Training games and the WBC

With pitchers and catchers now beginning to report, there are now two new countdowns on the side of the main page: The first is to the first spring training games (exhibitions by the Red Sox against college teams), and the second is to the 11:30 PM Eastern game between Taipei and Australia that will open the WBC on March 1.

Coming this week on The Baseball Continuum…

Sorry, but the WBC Q&A’s final part has been delayed until sometime this coming week. So, for now, here’s a preview of stuff that (probably) will also be joining it:

  • The Continuum Baseball Rankings- In which I scrape together world rankings for baseball countries based on not just performance in tournaments but also how many MLB players they have produced and how well their teams have done in team tournaments like the Caribbean Series.
  • Spring Training stuff
  • A few new countdowns on the side of the page.
  • And possibly a new installment of Bizarre Baseball Culture. Possibly.

Coming in the next week on the Baseball Continuum

The Continuum kicks back into high gear on Monday, with more WBC stuff, more “Bizarre Baseball Culture” and various other stuff. Apologies for how the last few days have not been to the usual standards, but sometimes, you need to rest up and conserve energy, to prepare for big things.

Those big things are coming. Oh, yes, they are coming.

Just a reminder, by the way, that Joe Connor’s WBC guide is still for sale to anybody with either a credit card or a Paypal account.

Coming this week on The Baseball Continuum:

Coming in the next seven days on the Continuum:

  • More WBC Roster Analysis
  • The long-awaited and at least once-delayed return of Bizarre Baseball Culture, which will focus on an old public domain comic book (again). One of these days I’ll cover a TV episode or something. I swear.
  • More editions of “Famous for Something Else”.
  • The late-January edition of “Ye Olde Base Ball Continuum”.
  • And more!

And don’t forget to check out Joe Connor’s WBC Guide!

My Blogathon post is up…

My post over at the Old Time Family Baseball blogathon is now up and can be found over there. So check it out.

Some quick blog dealings

Just a few quick blog dealings for today:

-First off, a big thanks to everyone who has visited the Continuum this month so far. Already, January is the most successful month in the site’s history, and this has been the most successful week in the site’s history, and Thursday was the most successful day in the site’s history. So thank you for helping make these recent days so successful, but remember that this success is only because of you, the readers. So don’t forget to check back regularly and tell your friends about the site.

-Don’t forget that the Old Time Family Baseball blogathon that I mentioned yesterday is going on now, and my contribution will be up sometime tomorrow.

-The Glossary has been updated with a few more terms.

-Just another reminder that Joe Connor’s WBC guide remains for sale here at the Continuum, and can be found on this page.

-If you like what you see and would like to donate to the Continuum, you can now do so using the “Tip Jar” on the right side of the front page of the blog. All proceeds will go towards the Baseball Continuum and related expenses such as hosting, domain names and the like*.

*Well, that isn’t entirely truthful. If somebody drops thousands of dollars into it, I might use at least some of it to pay off some loans. But then again, if somebody drops thousands of dollars into the tip jar, I’ll personally do something for you on this blog.
