Continuum Week In Review (6/17-6/23) and the Week Ahead (6/24-6/30)

This past week on the Continuum…

  • MVPs of this week included Giancarlo Stanton, Matt Harvey, Chris Davis, Jordan Zimmermann, Shane Victorino and Zack Greinke.
  • I mused on whether All-Star Voting could hit a breaking point.
  • I covered 2007’s Triple-A Baseball Heroes and then had a brief Twitter conversation with it’s author.
  • I also covered the 2008 sequel to the above.
  • The Dodgers and Yankees had a Twitter-fight.

This coming week:

  • The most unique and interesting Minor Leaguers in baseball, from awesome names to neat stories
  • The daily “MVP of Yesterday” features
  • My All-Star Ballots
  • An updated List of my favorite baseball twitter feeds
  • An answer to that grandest of all questions: Who would win in a fight between all of the namesakes of Major League Baseball teams? This one is over a month in the making.
  • Reaction to any major baseball news.
  • And maybe another installment of Bizarre Baseball Culture.

Good night!

Aside

Have you ever wondered: “How can I follow the 140-characters-or-less thoughts of the no-doubt young and dashing proprietor of this fine blog?”

Well, you can! So don’t forget to follow me on Twitter!

The First Anniversary Spectacular Has Just Started

Well, it turns out that I didn’t get to all of my ideas for the First Anniversary Spectacular (and, honestly, I didn’t want to overflow the inboxes of people who subscribe to this via e-mail THAT much), so in the coming days there will be some overflow, including my favorite baseball memory (to go with those from yesterday), a look at the best/worst of Bizarre Baseball Culture, some follow-ups on some previous stories, and one or two other feature stories.

So… keep an eye open!

One week until the 1st Anniversary Spectacular!

Why haven’t there been as many big, long articles on the Continuum of late? Well, as I’ve said earlier, it has to do with the fact that coming up is the Baseball Continuum 1st Anniversary Spectacular! It’ll have new installments of the some of the most popular and notable features of the Continuum, such as Bizarre Baseball Culture and a more in-depth version of Famous For Something Else, follow-ups on some of my favorite articles and observations, and also featuring some appearances by others from around the baseball internet who are nice enough to answer my e-mails with something other than a polite decline and/or complete silence. Yes, on May 8, you’ll see the largest number of posts on this blog in memory. And it’ll be for you, the people who have provided the Continuum tens of thousands of views over the last year.

So, uhm, yeah. May 8. 1st Anniversary Spectacular. Be there.

Blog Dealings for April 12 (and notes on the oncoming 1st Anniversary)

Okay, some brief blog dealings for today:

  • In order to have a better product and not just a list of scores, the “Continuum Global News” feature will from now on become a once-weekly feature, released on the weekends.
  • However, on the other hand, the “Picture of the Day” will return, starting tomorrow.
  • A reminder that you can donate to the Continuum tip jar by hitting the “donate” button on the front page (it’s to the right).
  • Also, if you have a high-quality baseball blog or website (I’ll be the judge of what “high-quality” means) and would like to have it linked to from the Continuum, let me know by sending me an e-mail– all I’ll ask for in return is a link to the Continuum from your site. Of course, I’ll also still add in some sites that I just plain like.
  • Also, don’t forget that the Continuum is on Facebook.
  • Finally, May 8 is the Baseball Continuum‘s 1st Anniversary. I’m planning some special things, perhaps maybe even featuring some special guests (note: If you are a semi-distinguished internet baseball personality and would like to be a “special guest”, send me an e-mail). So keep an eye out for it.

Blog Dealings: The Weirdest Search Results

WordPress provides me with a list of search results that bring people to the Continuum, but, well, sometimes they can be very strange. Here are some of the weirdest search results that have brought people to this blog, as well as what I think they ended up finding by searching for them- all of these are put down exactly as they appear in WordPress’ list of search results:

  • examples addendum in letters (I have no idea.)
  • baseball gods rules (Presumably to one of the articles where I refer to the “Baseball Gods”)
  • the little scarecrow boy (I have no clue- possible one of the Bizarre Baseball Cultures.)
  • korean numbers (Probably something from the WBC.)
  • is josh reddick trying to copy brian wilson (A good question.)
  • is barbaro canizares jewish? (I don’t think so. Presumably this brought the searcher to a WBC article.)
  • operation polo image (?)
  • men dolls tied up (I don’t even want to comprehend what this person was searching for, but it almost certainly brought them to the Dollman installment of Bizarre Baseball Culture)
  • disconnect between perception & reality (That’s deep.)
  • marvel comics character with ball glove (I’m going to guess one of the Bizarre Baseball Cultures.)
  • savage .304 (Maybe I wrote “a savage .304” somewhere about something.)

So, have you ever come here with a strange search request?

Coming Soon: Continuum Global News

Remember the WBC, and how the leadup to it had the Continuum have all of that news compiled from around the world?

Well, starting tomorrow, the Baseball Continuum will begin a (more-or-less) daily look at baseball beyond America with… Continuum Global News! Asia! Latin America! Europe! And anywhere else!

Starting tomorrow on the Baseball Continuum

Back up and running: Baseball Continuum Facebook

Do you use Facebook? Well, good news, after a few months of sporadic-at-best updates, I have begun to once again post some updates from the Continuum on the Facebook site. So feel free to “Like” the Continuum here. In general you can expect one update or link a day from it, although there may be more in a day if something big comes up.
