Continuucast 8 with @SethTweets!

It’s time for yet another Baseball Continuum CONTINUUCAST! This time with Twins’ prospect expert, Seth Stohs! Hit play above, download by right-clicking here, follow the RSS feed here or follow on iTunes here or Stitcher here (if the latest episode isn’t up yet, it will be shortly).

It’s a Minor League Baseball installment of the Continuucast!

First, Dan talks to Twins’ prospect expert Seth Stohs about the Minnesota, the Rochester Red Wings, Minnesota’s farm system in general, and the appeal of Minor League Baseball. Please note that I had some technical difficulties during the conversation, but I have used software to clean it up and make it as good-sounding as I can. Apologies!

Then, Dan does another belated “30 Teams, 30 Posts” by talking about how Trevor Story’s amazing first week with the Rockies in some ways is proof of just how fun and unexpected the minor leagues are, since they can provide great surprises even from non-top prospects like Story!

Come back next week when Dan will welcome the “Evil Empire” onto the Continuucast and speak to Yankees Blogger Stacey Gotsulias!

CONTINUUCAST 7: 2016 Season Opening EXTRAVAGANZA!

It’s time for another Baseball Continuum CONTINUUCAST! This time with Eric Stephen, Travis Sarandos, and Michael Clair! In addition, Dan reveals his picks for the season! Hit play above, download by right-clicking here, follow the RSS feed here or follow on iTunes here or Stitcher here (if the latest episode isn’t up yet, it will be shortly).

Dan Glickman opens up the 2016 MLB Regular Season with a Continuucast with a record THREE guests, and also gives his season predictions!

First (at 3:10 in the podcast), Dan talks to Eric Stephen of True Blue LA about the Dodgers, covering their spring injury bug, Corey Seager, Vin Scully, and several other topics.
Then (at 23:24), Dan welcomes Travis Sarandos of Brew Crew Ball, BP Milwaukee and the “Dingers, Doubles and Drunks” podcast. They talk about the Brewers, whether Braun and/or Lucroy will be traded, the NL Central in general, the many excellent prospects on the way to Milwaukee, and whether Travis had any idea that his article theorizing that Hank the Ballpark Pup had been replaced would end up becoming so big.

The final guest (at 42:55) is Michael Clair of MLB.com’s Cut4 and formerly of Old Time Family Baseball! The two talk the MLB season, how awesome Opening Day is, Michael’s beloved Pittsburgh Pirates (and how he fell in love with them), give their championship predictions, and complain about how disappointing the Batman vs.  Superman movie was (SPOILER ALERT!).

Finally (at 1:18:19), Dan gives his season predictions for Major League Baseball in 2016! They will almost certainly be wrong, but now you have a recording to keep him from claiming otherwise.

After that, Dan talks a bit about how impressed he was with South Africa, France and the Czech Republic in recent WBC qualifiers, before previewing next week’s guest: Brandon DuBreuil of CPBLEnglish.com.

BIZARRE BASEBALL CULTURE/CONTINUUCAST 4: “THE DAY BASEBALL DIED”

This installment of Bizarre Baseball Culture can only be found through the Baseball Continuum’s Continuucast! Hit play above, download by right-clicking here, follow the RSS feed here or follow on iTunes here (if the latest episode isn’t up yet, it will be shortly).

The Continuucast has it’s first true “Bizarre Baseball Culture” segment as Dan looks at the 1946 Columbia Workshop radio-play, “The Day Baseball Died.” In addition, he takes a quick look “Around the Continuum” of international baseball and has a brief complaint about the fact MLB Network doesn’t show the Caribbean World Series.

Continuucast 2: Electric Boogaloo (AKA: “That Could Have Gone Better”)

Dan Glickman’s second foray into podcasting turns into a disaster during the second segment as he tries to tie together pitch clocks, Rob Manfred’s “One Baseball” idea and the Anti-Trust Exemption into something coherent but finds that what sounds good in his head is kind of a bit of rambling when he speaks it. He totally is going to have to write down stuff more in the future, and also expand upon what he was TRYING to say in a blog post.

Also, he said he’d discuss the 2016 All-Star Game being rewarded to San Diego, and ended up not. What a doofus.

Oh well, better luck next time, Dan!

The download link can be found here. The Continuucast will arrive on iTunes and similar services in the near future.

Music/Sounds Featured:

“The National Game” by John Phillip Sousa

“The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” by Paul Dukas, as performed by the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra in 1941

All sound and music used is either public domain or falls under fair use.

So about the podcast….

So, as you saw yesterday, there’s a new thing added to the Baseball Continuum, the Continuucast! I’ll be doing one every now and then from now on, probably. They will range greatly in time, from as short as five or ten minutes to some installments that may be longer than an hour. So what sort of stuff can you expect to see in the Continuucasts?

Well….

-Discussions of the latest baseball news or thoughts on teams, players, etc. The first Continuucast, for example, has me discuss the Cubs and the Hall of Fame, as well as some brief thoughts on the Ben Zobrist trade.

-Features like Bizarre Baseball Culture. Some of them are semi-previews of future “official” Biz-BCs, others are side-issues, and maybe some of them will be “official” Bizarre Baseball Cultures.

-“Around the Continuum”, where I pay tribute to the vast scale of the Baseball Continuum by taking a look at what’s going on around the world outside of the usual MLB realm of influence.

-In the future… interviews! Other members of the baseball internet, and perhaps other interesting baseball people!

-Mail-Bag! Do you have any questions for me? Send them to djgwriter@yahoo.com!

-And, no doubt, more things that will develop as the Continuucast goes on.

So, listen to the installment from yesterday, and of course, keep an eye open, as I will be adding it to iTunes and other services sometime in the near future (I want to do a few to get on my feet first).
